Glassworks- Roxanne Johnson, owner/artisan
Glassworks began as a hobby for Roxanne Johnson.

Self taught, on the ranch she and her husband operate in

SW ND, it moved to town when their children started

school in Hettinger. What started out as renting a small

house to do her hobby while the children were in school,

has become a thriving main street business.

Roxanne stayed in that little house for almost two years

when she spied an empty building on the corner of Main

Street and Highway 12. After fixing it up she moved to

that location for the next two years. The additional room

allowed her to expand into more gift items. In the

summer of 2000, she purchased the abandoned building

next door. It was in dire need of repairs. After much hard

workshe moved in the fall of that year. With even more

room she was able to offer an expresso bar and coffee

beans. Hettinger appreciated having lattes, smoothies,

soft-serve ice cream and a comfortable place to sit and

visit.

Not being one to sit for long, she decided she needed to

buy the building she just left and again expand the gift

line. This purchase was made in October 2001 and a

large doorway was prepared between the two buildings.

An open house was held in November 2001! Glassworks

now had the space to offer a Year-Round Christmas

Room. Folks in the Hettinger area know that Glassworks

carries gifts for every occasion plus linens, frames,

candles, lamps, furniture, gourmet food, framed artwork

and a lot more.

Stained glass work has continued to be her main focus.

She deals with commissions for both residences and

churches. Roxanne now does sandblasting on glass.

She can incorporate the sandblasting in design work and

also personalizes weddinig glasses, Christmas

ornaments, trophies, etc. Glasswork builds many angels

that are personalized by the addition of birthstone hearts

representing your children and grandchildren.

This business employees up to 9 staff with 3 doing only

stained glass work. It is a busy place that thrives on

being an upbeat shop that everyone wants to visit.

Glassworks phone number is 567-2334if you want to give

her a call and visit about her products. A web page is in

the making.
